Chris Pacana

It was an hour or two before lunch time when 'my fairy' invited me to come at Hoop for Life that night as Chris Pacana will be there too. Without hesitations, I agreed and immediately called my angel to accompany me. I also asked for a PBA friend's company, but she hasn't answered the phone. In the end, I had resorted to asking for one of my high school bestfriend's company. And fortunately, she agreed.

The event will start by 7PM. Hence, as early as 5PM, I am already getting ready. But, my fairy sent me a message that something happened, an emergency, and so, they'll be late. Nonetheless, we still hurriedly tried to get to Pasig Sports Complex, Caruncho Gym for the event. It is raining. And it is dead hard to hail a cab. With God's grace, we still arrived at the venue all right, and just in time before the ballgame started.

There were a lot of PBA players there, mostly Fil-Ams. Nonito Donaire is present as well, and even played ball. It seems like a basketball game is much fun if it is for charity. But, no Chris Pacana is yet in sight.

At the end of the 2nd Quarter, Chris finally arrived. And I can barely move a muscle. Even though I had seen him a number of times, and even had the chance of talking to him, seeing him once more has never been so rewarding. Big thanks to my fairy! Good that I have my angel to take pictures; otherwise, I won't be able to take shots for I will remain glued at my courtside seat that very moment.

He got to play several minutes in the 3rd Quarter. He got a couple of shots and an assist. But he had to get back to the bench for he had a slight injury in his hands.

After the game, I don't let the moment slip without having pictures with Chris. I hardly remember the last time I got to see him in person. Probably that was last year when he handed us jerseys.


And of course, I took the chance of having picture with 'my fairy'...


Yes, my fairy is Chris' Mom! It was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! Everything seems like a dream. I never thought that I could be that close to them. This is too much for a fan to handle. It has never come into my dreams that this could even happen. I had even slept with smile painted on my face last night. I had remembered everything in detail.

Ma'am Beth, my fairy, thank you so much for the opportunity. Saying 'thank you' isn't enough to express how grateful I am for knowing you, as well as your hubby. No wonder Chris had grown up to be a very nice person; he is raised by two lovely couple. Once more, from my heart, thank you! God Bless!

I know everyone's missing Chris Pacana for so long now. To pacify that feeling, I am encouraging you to watch Hoop For Life tonight at Pasig Sports Center, 7-9 in the evening. But the gate will be open by 5PM.


Along with Chris are PBA All-Stars including PBA legend Atoy Co, Kelly Williams, Asi Taulava, Mac Mac Cardona, Jimmy Alapag and Marc Caguoia. It is a charity basketball game for the benefit of the Real LIFE Foundation. There will also be the special appearance by World Boxing Champ Nonito "The FIlipino Flash" Donaire. All proceeds will go toward the construction of the very first Real LIFE Community Center in Pasig. Tickets are only P200 (courtside), P100 (goalpost), and P50 (general patronage).
