Ayala Handles Cold Ike

Rialto Eisenhower High had an off night Wednesday as the Eagles lost to Chino Hills Ayala, 76-65, in a non-league road game.

Eisenhower made only 5 of 26 three-pointers, and 31 percent of its shots overall, which Coach Steve Johnson said was one of the worst shooting performances of the season.

"A lot of the shots were open," Johnson said. "Maybe it was fatigue. You have to be able to put it all together against a team like that."

Eisenhower fell behind early, trailing 12-6 after the opening quarter. The Eagles, who trailed the entire game, managed to cut the lead to five points with 1:30 left before falling short.

The Eagles were outrebounded 48-36, as their quickness could not overcome Ayala's height advantage.

Senior point guard Trenell Eddings finished with 25 points and six assists to lead Eisenhower (12-3). Darren Ang had 11 rebounds and Calvin Afualo had 18 points.

Jack May and Chris Pacana had 20 points apiece for Ayala (11-5).
