Young Gunnaz vs. 1 Stunners

DIAMOND DIVISION

5 p.m.

The 1 Stunners season started off slow as evident as their 22-12 first quarter deficit as Young Gunnaz held off a late Stunners run, 52-49.

GM Mark Pagdilao has been pressured to pick up players and his biggest acquisition was point guard, Chris Pacana. The rookie standout from the PBA scored 8 points and led his new team with 8 rebounds. "I know that guy...he played point guard for Ayala right? His addition makes the Stunners faster and because they're lacking in size, teams might overlook them if they're not careful," said a team analyst. Terrance Martin led the Stunners with 15 points and he grabbed a team high, 3 steals. Alex "Bear" Ivezaj is focusing more on defense with the Stunners as he blocked 2 shots and finished with just 7 points. Reigning Gold Division Finals MVP, Kenneth Uboom also joined the Stunners and once the chemistry issues have been worked out, the Stunners might be back as one of the elite teams in the Diamond Division.

Young Gunnaz was led by Andrew Knox's 17 points and 8 rebounds. The former rookie of the season had the luxury of playing with JR Resse last season but now the scoring burden will rely heavily on him and their General Manager, "Flight". The Stunners made sure Alphonso was on lock and he was limited to just 7 points in his season-opener. "Didn't the Stunners try to pick him up last season? Looking at the Spring 2007 All Star Highlight video, those two (Mark Pagdilao and Alphonso White) looked good playing together. I guess we'll have to wait for another All Star Game," said a team analyst. Rookie players, Amos Battle and Chris Davidson scored 7 points and 5 respectively. Chris and veteran Kenny Ali tied a team-high with 3 steals and Chris was the second leading rebounder with 7 boards.

The team out-rebounded their opponents, 28-18 but the game was virtually even once the Stunners erased the 1st half deficit with the score 27-24 at half time. The Stunners gained control in the beginning of the 2nd half until Young Gunnaz regained the lead in the middle of the 4th quarter. Young Gunnaz are now 2-1 in season-openers while the Stunners are 1-3.

This must have been when Chris opted and decided to 'sit out' for a conference.

Yup! You're definitely right KrispyKreme. I would still be posting more articles about that 2007 Fall Season. Chris ended 2nd for the rookies that time.
